French Program
At NAS, French is not simply taught as a third language; it is an integral part of our language program that offers much more than just vocabulary and grammar lessons. The purpose of teaching French as a second language at NAS is multifaceted, aiming to equip students with linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and communication abilities that extend beyond the classroom.
Our French program is designed to develop in students the ability to understand, speak, read, and write French effectively, but we go further by emphasizing project-based experiences and hands-on learning. Rather than relying solely on traditional methods, we immerse students in real-life scenarios where they can use the language in a meaningful way. This includes engaging them in projects, presentations, and activities that help reinforce their language skills in practical contexts, such as organizing events, creating French-language media, or collaborating on cultural research.
In addition to expanding vocabulary and mastering grammatical rules, the program emphasizes fluency and confidence in communication. We focus on practical communication skills, preparing students to interact naturally and confidently in real-life situations, both within the classroom and beyond. By working on various projects, students practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in dynamic, interactive settings, ensuring they can apply their French language skills in real-world scenarios.
What sets our approach apart is the emphasis on cultural immersion alongside language learning. Through field trips, cultural exchanges, and hands-on activities that explore the history, art, and traditions of French-speaking countries, we help students connect with the language on a deeper level. This holistic approach ensures that students not only learn the mechanics of French but also gain a broader understanding of its cultural context.
By offering a dynamic, immersive, and practical approach to learning French, NAS prepares students to become confident, capable communicators who can engage with the French-speaking world. Our goal is not only to make them fluent in the language but also to instill in them a deeper appreciation for French culture, creating global citizens who can navigate diverse linguistic and cultural environments.
